Have a great long weekend. Don’t over-idulge. Don’t get all, “Ohhhh I have to eat because everyone else is.”
Drink responsibly…which means not at all.
Eat for your health…which means, well, eat healthy!

The CEO of Coca Cola showed up in my news feed yesterday, in media clip/interview. Coca Cola has started a campaign to help fight the war on obesity and Muhtar Kent was getting grilled. The interviewers asked some great, needed and tough questions.
Here is my thought: This may surprise you a bit.
Well done Coca Cola!
Now I know a ton of you are in shock for me supporting Coca Cola but here is my rationale.
Sugary drinks are not the entire problem. Yes, their mas availability, relatively cheap cost and marketing have made the problem greater, but the real problem is people who have no self-control or couldn’t be bothered to be informed or educated.
Pop for my Canadians friends / Cola or Soda for my Americans … is not making the world fat. Bad judgement and lack of willpower is making the world fat.
By saying Coca Cola or any other brand is making people fat, it is the same as saying forks are making people fat. Forks don’t make people fat. It’s what you put on your fork that makes you fat!
Coca Cola and a lot of other big brands offer nutritional informational on the packaging, they are donating money to active lifestyle programs and are changing their marketing to be more responsible….I say good job!
This is a societal issue not a sugary drink issue. Use some common sense people. Old school…calories in vs calories out. It is a lot easier to suck back a lot of calories than it is to expend those calories BUT THAT IS THE CHOICE YOU MAKE!!! You do the time for the crime. If you drink it you need to start moving.
There is enough information and education out there to make an informed decision. If you are claiming that you had no idea drinking a 2L bottle of Coke would cause you to gain weight, you are lyin! If you start your day with the super size bucket of soda at Burger King to wash down your 2,000 calorie trough slop, then you deserve what you end up like. It’s a choice. They didn’t make you choose them, that’s on and in you.
Coca Cola and so many other brands offer choices and options. They offer low-calorie or no calorie or less sugar and even portion controlled sizes. Again, YOU HAVE OPTIONS. If you have no self-control or bad judgement, that is on you not on Coke (or Pepsi—self admitted fan of Pepsi Max)
I know all of you natural peeps are freaking out right now and ready to start typing me a nasty reply or email. Yes, these drinks are full of chemicals, fillers, additives bah blah blah. YOU HAVE THE CHOICE NOT TO DRINK THEM.
This issue is about the food industry as a whole not just one product or brand. If you are fat and you want to change that then your options are fewer. If you are unhealthy and you want to be healthy, your options are less. If you are in fantastic shape, healthy and fit then you have a lot of options…you just have to exercise self-control (pun intended).
Everyone has to go on their own health journey and yes I actually commend Coca Cola for being proactive, spending the money on wellness programs and trying to connect communities to education & information.
Coca Cola is making the effort…what are you doing to make an effort to better health?

Yesterday the world stopped in shock and horror when the news outlets began reporting on the explosions that occurred at the Boston Marathon.
The Boston Marathon is one of these most coveted races there is. Steeped in history and tradition…it is THE race for a runner to claim as a win.
We had members of our boot camp family there in Boston staking their claim on this incredible running event and the achievement in conquering the 26.2 miles. When they called me to say they were safe, it filled me with an overwhelming sense of relief.
As a runner, I feel like someone attacked my friends. As a person, I am just horrified.
Shock doesn’t truly begin to describe yesterday’s events.
Is nothing sacred?
To me this is another reminder that life is an amazingly precious gift. It is meant to be lived to its fullest and it is to be conquered. We all need to start living life to its full potential. Start doing, not trying. Stop making excuses and make decisions. Stop giving up and procrastinating while you start giving it your all and being decisive.
Tell your loved ones and those that are special in your life how much you appreciate them and that you love and care about them.
Life can be snatched in the blink of an eye.
Hug everyone a little tighter and be thankful for everything.
Live a life that leaves a legacy.

It passes by the same no matter what we do. Eating, watching tv, being busy, being lazy. Whatever you do, time passes the same way. Sometimes it passes too slow or too quickly. It can be invested or wasted. Time can be on your side or it can be against you.
Most successful people take action on what they have learned FAST! They make decisions quickly and decisively, weighing all the information they have at hand and committing.
I’m talking about right away.
Not next week.
Not when “xyz” happens.
But NOW.
Things are happening NOW, not later. If you wait for later than you will always be putting things off until timing is just right. Well, it is very rarely something that is ever ‘just right’. Time just happens. It passes by.
No time? Not enough time? YOU MAKE THE FRIGGIN’ TIME or you make the excuses…your choice.
So that thing (whatever it might be), such as that commitment to working out and eating healthy you were “going” to start, do it NOW.
All these things you were “going” to do need to get DONE. You need to stop talking about them and get after them!
So commit to yourself that this week you’ll put in work on things you have been putting off. Back up the commitment to yourself by telling someone else your action plan to. Someone that will help hold you accountable to the investment you will be making in time for yourself. Time to take care of yourself.
Deal?
Action loves speed. Remember, speed kills the competition! How fast are you? Don’t tell me, SHOW me!
Pop quiz:

Time’s up….the short answer is YES to all of the above.
The reason…RESULTS!
When you experience results that fuels your motivation to keep on keepin’ on!! There is nothing more motivating than results!
I know both sides and I can tell you as I have said many times, nothing tastes as good as how I feel being fit.
Here is where I have to shake my head. I see people, yes former boot campers who are doing the latest and greatest fad and their bodies have not changed for the good. Often, they are worse off then the last time I saw them.
How can you continue on doing the same thing with no results? Maybe because it’s easy, its convenient, your pals are doing the same thing, you aren’t required to push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
There are tons and tons of programs that claim to be the best program for fat loss, but are they?
I think it is truly amazing that after all of these years, very smart people still fall for lies, scams and BS. I think we all have that high hope that this new product/program is the fat loss magic bullet but in reality are expectations are low knowing full well that it isn’t.
Quiz time again!!!

Sure you have….we all know these people or we are one of these people.
So after all of that, then what happens?? NOTHING HAPPENS AND YOU QUIT, YET AGAIN!
I don’t blame you, I have been there and I have tried it all as well. The weight loss industry is the only industry that can continually sell programs/products/fads with NO RESULTS and people keep buying and believing.
I preach and will continue to preach about old school methods because they work….we get results-end of story.
Eating real food and working your muscles the way they need to work produces results—not a lot of glitter or sparkles.
Take a good look at what you are doing and come to terms with why you are not getting the results you actually want.
You need a solid commitment–stop being a fitness and food flake! Stop wasting your time and money on fast fixes.
The one thing that you need to help keep you on the “wagon” is results.
Commit to doing and being better and watch out, those results will be coming in like a gangster trying to hold up a 7-11…fast, furious and leaving dust trail behind!
I am pretty much an open book. Y’all know about most of my quirks:
Here are a few more shocking, interesting, funny bits of information about me.
1. I iron everything…and by everything I mean everything. So if you are thinking “does she iron (insert item here)….” yes, yes I do. I always have ironed everything and I always will. It’s weird, I’m fully aware.
2. I don’t looooooove veggies. From time to time I think salad is lame. I eat them because I am not blessed with a great metabolism. I eat them because I know they are good for me and I tell myself that through each and every bite.
3. I have a sick obsession with Bath and Body Works. In my world you can never have enough hand sanitizer, soap, body lotion, lip gloss, candles or air fresheners.
4. I really like Pepsi Max….there I said it. Extra caffeine, zero calories, bubbles….come on, how great is that! Simmer down, I know that pop/soda is bad but its just on the rare occasion I want a pop, it’s Max.
5. NKOTB (New Kids on The Block) is my favourite boy band (man band). To this day they are still cranking out some fantastic beats in their 40′s….well done boys!! I still love them, and if Donnie Wahlberg ever calls, well….
6. My favourite super hero’s are Iron Man, Captain America and Thor (he’s cute).
7. I will never turn down steak. A nice thick cut of glistening, right out of the broiler, sizzling steak. I like mine medium rare…closer to rare…..rawwwwrrrrrrrrrr (that’s me growling). Settle down Vegans, this is my list.
8. When I go for a run I sing…crazy loud, tone-deaf kind of singing. Yeah, I’m that girl you pass when you are driving by as you sit wondering, “What is she doing? Is she in pain?” Don’t judge, I like my beats!!
9. Donuts…yes donuts will bring me to my knees. What wine does for most of you donuts do for me. Oh, and hot donuts…puuuuuurrrrrrrr.
10. If you get in a car with me at night you are taking your life in your own hands. I am completely night blind and my driving skills are well….
11. I would eat sushi 7 days a week but the fear from glowing from the mercury keeps me in check.
12. I cannot stand…(I wanted to use the H word but I will hold back)…so read between the lines:
If you scrap your teeth on your fork while eating, be prepared. I may launch myself across the table at you! Also, if you lick or suck your fingers while eating I may throw my fork at you. Get some friggin manners and tact…..gah….sooo gross.
I PREDICT that if you reach into your pocket on any day in 2013 and pull out a card or piece of paper with all your realistic body and fitness goals written on it in precise detail, the odds are in your favor of you’ll achieve every one of those goals before the end of the year.
I PREDICT that if you focus your thoughts on your goals and how you are going to achieve them, all day long, you will reach your goals so fast in 2013, it will make your head spin. #truth
I PREDICT that if you focus your thoughts on health woes and body fat problems and if you think about what you don’t want, all day long, your problems will get worse than ever this year.
I PREDICT that if you can tell me all the reasons why achieving your health and fitness goals are important to you, you will be motivated from within to stick with them when the going gets tough.
I PREDICT that at times, the going is going to get tough. But you need to tough it out.
I PREDICT that the way you see yourself in your mind’s eye today will be an exact reflection of what you see in the mirror at the end of the year.
I PREDICT that if you have a setback that seems to get in the way of you reaching your health and fitness goals and you tell yourself “this is temporary; this too shall pass”, then it won’t set you back and it will pass. Don’t be a victim to excuses.
I PREDICT that if you believe the way your body looks today is out of your control and you feel helpless or powerless to change, you won’t even make much of an effort this year.
I PREDICT that if you accept complete responsibility for the way your body looks today and you believe that you have the power to change, that you will take action and keep taking action, even through the tough times.
I PREDICT that if you’re unhappy with your physical condition and you say, “it’s not my fault” or you blame it on genetics, hormones or age, then your body will look pretty much the same at the end of 2013 as it did on New Year’s day.
I PREDICT that the more you seek “miracle pills” or “quick fixes,” the more likely you are to be a failure a year from now. That’s the cold hard truth.
I PREDICT that you will be tempted by many quick fixes in 2012. You’re smarter than that–don’t fall for it.
I PREDICT that if you hang out with losers (not weight) and negative people (food pushers) this year, you will become just like them.
I PREDICT that if you hang out with winners (boot campers) and positive people this year, you will become just like them.
I PREDICT that you will run into more negative people and losers this year than positive people and winners. Choose wisely who you want to be like. There is a reason there are more negative people…it’s easy.
I PREDICT that if you recruit just one friend or support partner that stands behind you and the lifestyle changes you want to make in 2012, you will double your chances for success. If you surround yourself with numerous support buddies, you will become unstoppable.
So how does your future look this year? It’s totally up to you!! Just know that I am here to help.
The past is the past and you can’t change it, but by changing your thoughts, attitudes and ACTION in the present moment, the future is yours to create.
